Prevent the signs of aging

What is BOTOX®? BOTOX® is a Hyaluronic Dermal Filler used to safely and effectively relax facial muscles to correct existing lines and prevent new wrinkles from forming. As our skin ages, the dermis gradually loses its major constituents: collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. Collagen acts as the major support protein for our skin, elastin allows our skin to stay firm and resist wrinkles, and hyaluronic acid is a natural component of the body that helps to trap water and add volume and shape to our skin.

What is Juvederm? Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid base dermal filler that helps reverse the signs of aging by instantly correcting, enhancing and restoring volume to a more youthful state. Dermal fillers are used to reduce or eliminate wrinkles around the smile, lift the corners of the mouth, enhance lips, and replace soft-tissue volume loss.

TMJ – Mouth Guards

Temporomandibular joint and muscle disorders, more commonly known as “TMJ,” are ailments that cause pain and impair the use of the jaw joint and the muscles that control jaw movement. By most estimates, it is believed that 10 million Americans are affected with TMJ. This condition seems to affect women more than it does men. Research has not conclusively been able to explain why.

In most cases, the pain associated with TMJ causes mild to severe discomfort in the jaw, which is temporary and often occurs in cycles. The pain eventually goes away with little or no treatment. Some people, however, develop significant, long-term symptoms. To be properly diagnosed and to figure out what your treatment options are, it is important to consult with a dentist who works with/specializes in TMJ/TMD.
At Nicollet Station Dental, Dr. Osborn and Dr. Conroy offer a variety of treatment options for patients who grind or clench their teeth, or suffer from TMJ. The most common treatment option prescribed for patients who clench or grind their teeth while they sleep is a night guard.
A night guard is an appliance much like a retainer used to protect your teeth while you are sleeping. This device is commonly recommended by Dr. Osborn and Dr. Conroy for people who suffer from bruxism, or excessive nighttime tooth grinding or clenching. This device is commonly recommended by Dr. Osborn and Dr. Conroy for people who suffer from bruxism, or excessive nighttime tooth grinding or clenching. This grinding and clenching puts pressure on the jaw, which can cause temporomandibular joint (TMJ) problems, severe headaches, ear pain, and neck pain as well as causing excessive wear to the teeth.
Night Guards are a device that will place your jaw in the correct position and prevent painful pressure and additional damage to the TMJ. Our Dentists who have specialized training in TMD disorders will assess the issues leading to the disorder and recommend and fit a mouth guard that is designed to treat the direct cause of your TMJ disorder.
There are many different options that a TMD dentist will consider when recommending and fitting a device and it is very important to have a professional assessment as a poorly fitted device may cause additional damage to the TMJ and aggravate the TMJ disorder
If you have questions about TMJ disorders, please contact us through our website, or call us at 612-388-5557. We are located right at the intersection of 5th Street and Marquette Avenue in downtown Minneapolis. We hope to serve you soon!
